Job Description

The main purpose of this role is to coordinate all aspects of financial compliance for assigned countries in accordance with local guidelines, local regulations. Conducts country management calls on a regular basis to maintain ongoing contact with the countries, assess financial compliance, assist managing the required documentation and assist countries comply with their reporting requirements. Plays an active role within the Finance team to reach departmental goals, achieve deliverables and meet compliance deadlines. Develops and maintains collaborative relationships with other functions and external advisors/vendors supporting the operational team in the countries.

  • Manage relationship with auditors/external accounting advisors.
  • Identify/monitor changes in accounting rules.
  • Prepare/review supporting schedules/evidence for audit of accounts.
  • Manage relationship with indirect tax authorities.
  • Identify/monitor changes in indirect tax rules.
  • Review/adjust transactions making up indirect tax balances.
  • Assist preparation of indirect tax returns.
  • Pay/recover VAT/Tax credit/corporate tax payable/receivable.
  • Prepare cash flow forecasts.
  • Monitor to ensure adequate balances in bank accounts.
  • Guide and collaborate with central operational accounting team employees.
  • Propose significant accruals/provisions required.
  • Prepare intercompany (cost plus) invoices.
  • Perform variance analysis reviews on monthly income statements/balance sheets for assigned companies and propose adjustments as necessary.
  • Perform a variance analysis review on monthly balance sheet and propose adjustments as necessary.
  • In collaboration with the Central Payroll Team, manage relationship with Payroll Bureau.
  • Approve payrolls. Ensure employee payroll payments are paid on time.
  • Ensure correct payroll related accounting entries are processed.
  • Review and analysis of fixed asset data.
  • Maintain timely and accurate general ledger records for the assigned companies.
  • Review/approve monthly balance sheet reconciliations and ensure necessary actions are taken as a result.
  • Completion of country specific surveys and questionnaires.
  • Ensure compliance to and maintenance of internal controls in accordance with the Sarbanes Oxley act and local tax and accounting legislation.
  • Limited business travel may be required.
  • Other ad-hoc requirements of the role.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Recognized accounting qualification or studying towards such a qualification from an appropriately accredited institution such as ACCA, CIMA or ACA.
  • Minimum two years’ experience in a Finance role either as partially qualified or qualified.
  • Good English language and grammar skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to attain and maintain a working knowledge of accounting rules.
  • Demonstrated understanding of requirements to file VAT/Corporate Tax returns.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with external auditors/advisors to deliver Statutory Filings in compliance with local GAAP.
  • Good oral and written communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with both Finance and non-Finance personnel.
  • Good organizational and time management skills.
  • Accurate with good attention to detail.
  • Ability to work in a team or independently as required.
  • Good computer skills: good knowledge of Microsoft Excel and the ability to learn appropriate ERP software.
